Heard — Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated: July 2026

This policy describes what you may not do with Heard. It is incorporated into our Terms of Service.

You may not use Heard to:

Contact people without good-faith reason to believe they want contact

  • You may not contact anyone who has explicitly told you not to contact them.
  • You may not circumvent a block, restraining order, no-contact order, or any form of legally or socially established no-contact arrangement.
  • You may not use Heard to "test" whether someone you have been distant from wants to hear from you when you have reason to believe they do not.

Stalk, harass, or intimidate

  • You may not use Heard repeatedly to attempt to contact someone who has declined.
  • You may not use Heard as part of a pattern of pursuit, surveillance, or unwanted attention.
  • You may not use Heard to monitor or track another person's communications.

Threaten or coerce

  • You may not include threats of harm to the recipient, yourself, or anyone else in your intake content.
  • You may not use Heard to issue ultimatums, demands, or coercive pressure ("if you don't reply I'll...").
  • You may not use Heard to extort money, property, or commitments from the recipient.

Engage minors inappropriately

  • You may not invite anyone under 18 to a Heard session unless you are their legal parent or guardian, and even then only with full transparency about the tool.
  • You may not use Heard to communicate with a minor outside of a legitimate parental or guardian relationship.

Misrepresent yourself

  • You may not pretend to be someone you are not.
  • You may not impersonate the recipient or imply you are reaching out on someone else's behalf without their permission.
  • You may not create multiple accounts to circumvent blocks or restrictions.

Use Heard commercially without permission

  • You may not use Heard to solicit business, sell products, or pitch services.
  • You may not use Heard as a customer service channel.
  • You may not use Heard for political organizing or campaign communication.

Use Heard to discuss illegal activity

  • You may not use Heard to coordinate, plan, or document illegal activity.
  • You may not use Heard to discuss child sexual abuse material, terrorism, or human trafficking. We will report such content to law enforcement.

Abuse our systems

  • You may not attempt to extract our prompts, model weights, or training data.
  • You may not run automated scripts against the service.
  • You may not attempt to circumvent our safety mechanisms (eject button, crisis detection, content filtering).
  • You may not reverse-engineer the service to build a competing product.

What we do when this policy is violated

We may, at our discretion:

  • Refuse to generate or deliver a synthesis from your session.
  • Pause your session while we investigate.
  • Suspend your account temporarily.
  • Terminate your account permanently for repeat or severe violations.
  • Permanently block you from contacting the affected recipient via Heard.
  • Report to law enforcement when there is credible imminent threat to a person, or when required by law.
  • Cooperate with civil discovery in litigation involving misuse of Heard.

We will, when possible, tell you what specific provision was violated and give you an opportunity to respond before permanent action. Severe violations (threats, CSAM, trafficking) result in immediate termination with no notice.

Reporting misuse

If you believe Heard is being used to harm you or someone else:

  • In immediate danger: Call 911. Do not delay to report to us first.
  • Otherwise: Email safety@feelheard.app with the relevant details (session link, sender's name, what's happening). We respond within 24 hours during business days.
  • We will preserve evidence of misuse for use in subsequent legal proceedings if requested.

Honest declarations

Before creating a Heard session, you affirm in good faith that:

1. You are not contacting this person against their explicit wishes. 2. You are not violating any court order or no-contact arrangement. 3. You have no reason to believe this contact would cause them harm. 4. You will not retaliate against the recipient for declining, blocking, or expressing limits.

Lying on these declarations is itself a violation of this Acceptable Use Policy and the Terms of Service, and may result in immediate termination of your account.

---

The intent of this policy is not to limit good-faith use. It is to keep Heard from being weaponized against the people it is meant to serve. If you are not sure whether a given use is acceptable, ask: would the other person want this if they knew everything about it? If yes, proceed. If no, don't.
